Candles have always been a part of creating a warm, inviting atmosphere in our homes. But we were always getting headaches or increased allergies after burning them.

We prefer a softly lit home, keeping the interior lighting lower than the outside light. So in the winter months we have candles lit all the time once the sun goes down.

About five years ago, we started understanding what exactly goes into most candles, and what we discovered made us rethink what we wanted to bring into our homes. It turns out, many conventional candles are made with paraffin wax, which is a byproduct of petroleum. Burning something derived from oil in your home is not what we want for a nice relaxing evening. A lot of these candles also use synthetic fragrances and they can be a whole mix of undisclosed chemicals, some of which have been linked to health concerns.

Something that's meant to bring comfort was potentially contributing to our discomfort. That's when we decided to explore the world of natural candles, and it's made a huge difference on our mentally when lighting these candles and the physical symptoms we were experiencing with synthetic candles.

What's more natural than the gentle aroma of eucalyptus or cedarwood wafting through your living space. That's the beauty of natural candles. Instead of synthetic fragrances, we use essential oils, which not only smell divine but can also offer therapeutic benefits. Cedarwood, for example, is known for its calming properties, while eucalyptus can be uplifting and energizing.

As for wax, natural candles are often made with soy wax, beeswax, or coconut wax. These waxes are derived from plants and burn much cleaner than paraffin, producing less soot and don't release harmful chemicals into the air we breathe.

Switching to natural candles has been more than just a change in our home fragrance; it's been a shift towards a healthier lifestyle. It's about being more mindful of what we bring into our homes and creating a space that truly nurtures our well-being.

Now, when we light a candle, we can relax and enjoy the beautiful scent knowing that I'm not compromising my health or the air we breathe. It's a small change, but it makes a big difference.
